Do one coat paints really work?

Do one coat paints really cover in just one coat? I have beige walls that I want to paint a different shade of white and wonder if I can get away with one coat using a one coat paint?

If you're going darker, maybe. If you're going lighter, no.

BM Aura but only if you’re going darker from a light color. And even then it’s hit or miss. So really the answer is “no”.

If you are a good painter, with the right roll and technique, sure.

I find that even the best paint I buy, I need just one more coat the following day. The second coat is much easier.

Especially when painting over a similar color (1990's orange painter's white with a 2020 gray based white, or a 00's Tuscan (orange-pink) color to a calmer 2020 tan.

Even with Aura, I do two coats.
