How does this work? If your kid was identified at an initial ID session and they say they want to invite you to more sessions, when would an offer come? How long does it take to get a 'yes' or a 'no' after the first session. Yes- I realize there are some that are told on the spot--but I'm hearing it's not as usual.
Our current Club that is asking for renewal by 4/24 w/ deposit so trying to figure out what to do. I have paid deposit in the past and forfeited it, but don't feel like doing that again. |
Delay paying the deposit for your club; they will not kick you out (especially if your team doesn't have a full roster). Let the club you are trying out for know that your club is asking for renewal by end of the month and ask when new club will be making decisions. |
Ignore your current club. They will not kick you off the team for delaying your deposit. They're just trying to strongarm you into a commitment as early as possible. Would you sign up with the door-to-door window salesman because he has a special discount which he can only offer if you sign up today? Take as much time as you need to make your decision. Any club whicb rescinds their offer will do so because your kid was only marginal for the team anyway and likely would have spent a bunch of time on the bench. All other clubs will wait as long as it takes for you to make your decision. |

You are in control not the club (your current or your possible next).
Tell the club he is looking to go to that they need to make a decision or you will be accepting elsewhere. If they are interested they will act immediately. If they dont then that tells you all you need. They are likely not 100% in on your kid and they dont really need him. If they did they would have made it clear very early on |
| Depends on club and level. At our club if they liked you at an ID session, you get invited to a number of practices. Could be well into May before they fill slots. |
Yes - agree with this. No need to try and strongarm the new club. Just don't allow the old one to strongarm you. |
| Agree with above and I just want to add...do NOT reply on verbal offers. |
anything can happen. you might get an offer after next session, you might never get one. |
You can always ask for feedback on how your kid has looked so far, and when you should expect to hear one way or the other. |
| What’s worse? Trying to pick and buy enterprise software or picking a team for your kid next fall? discuss. |
