| Safe neighborhood with fenced in backyard. What age would you let your child be out there without you? Like if you needed to make dinner or do dishes. |
| If you’re sure they would stay in the backyard I would say 5. |
| Depends on the kid, but my dd was 4. |
| 4 but with check-ins occasionally from a window. |
|
If you can see them, 4 or 5.
I was letting my 6-7 yo play in our fenced backyard while I couldn't see her, but we got a really high climbing structure so now I'm back to watching her through a window at least. I let her be out front alone briefly, like if I need to go to the bathroom. |
| I let my 2 year old play in the backyard if I can see her at all times. Not really sure what the danger is? It's fully fenced in. |
| Depends on the setup of the backyard and the obedience of the kid. Prob between 2 and 5. |
Same. When mine were 2 and 3 I'd let them stay in the yard I can see from the kitchen window while I prepped a meal. Somewhere around 4-6 I stopped feeling the need to check in very frequently. |
|
We waited until three so I knew DS could navigate the deck steps well alone.
Out front where there is no fence - age 6. |
| 7 years old. |
same. I popped in and out but could leave her out there for a few minutes. |
in a fenced back yard? You may need meds.... or to reread the OP |
| My kids are 4.5 and 2, they are free to roam the fenced in yard. Our German shepherd is usually out there with them, and I can easily see everything. |
|
Older DD is 5. I'm finally ok with her playing alone in our fenced in yard while I run in the house for a bathroom break or to change infant DD's diaper, that sort of thing. We don't have a window with good visibility on our yard, so I'm not comfortable with leaving her out there by herself for more than a couple of minutes.
I'll admit, I'm a worrier. DH is the complete opposite. |
| 3 (but older sibling is 6). We live in a safe neighborhood and my kids have never been into wandering off. They stay in the backyard and I check on them a lot. |
