New York woman missing in D.C.

Its a strange story. She was here for her birthday and staying with friends in Southwest. They said she was going with them on a trip to Virginia and that's what she texted her daughter.

I'd want to know if police have interviewed those 'friends'

Something tells me she bumped into the wrong sort of people in Virginia, and things took a bad turn.

In the DMV, we live in “artificial”Virginia. Not “real” Virginia. Real Virginia begins about 20 miles outside the beltway, and it’s filled with the type of people who’d think nothing of murdering a “yankee”. Other than the NOVA suburbs, Charlottesville and Norfolk, the rest of Virginia is pretty much Alabama-circa-1951. It’s filled with trumpers and racists.

And I’d bet anything that she encountered one of them, and that was that.

She went to Virginia with a friend who apparently is not missing. That’s a much more promising lead than assuming she managed to run into someone who’s itching to murder a “yankee.” There are plenty of trumpers and racists in Virginia (and MD, PA, etc.), but the vast majority of them manage to go their whole lives without murdering someone.

Of course there are tons of racists in Virginia. That doesn’t mean it’s the most likely reason this woman is missing. It’s far more likely to be someone she knows if violence is involved (which hopefully it is not).

+1. The NOVA / ROVA distinction is real. But not “murdering Yankees” real. Good Lord. Plus, she s only supposed to be in VA for a few hours. Chances are sh as headed someplace super dangerous like Fairfax.
