Breakfast: pastry (donut or croissant) or toast with butter, and a banana. Plus tea most mornings.
Morning snack: chocolate, usually. sometimes trail mix or just nuts, or more fruit. Lunch: Burrito bowl, salad, tacos, pizza, or often leftovers from previous night. Sometimes a turkey sandwich. A cheese quesadilla if I'm feeling really lazy and there's nothing else. Afternoon snack: popcorn or potato chips Dinner: casseroles, burgers, tacos, ramen (like good ramen from a take out place or that we make at home properly, not the little packets that college kids eat), and lots of pasta Dessert: always! I love to bake -- cheesecake bars, snack cakes, cookies, etc. If I don't have a baked good around, more chocolate. I also usually drink at least one Coke a day, sometimes two. Plus water the rest of the time. I almost never drink alcohol, maybe once a week if that. Also no coffee. |
|
Breakfast- bagel with cream cheese and coffee.
Lunch- chicken salad on toast, juice. Sometimes I forget to eat lunch. Dinner- We do a Hello Fresh meal so it varies, and a can of coke. Before bed- I might bake a few cookies or have cereal with milk. Might have a glass of wine once a week, sometimes less. |

| Very little. Contrary to PP, as a middle-aged, petite, fine-boned person with a metabolic disorder, my calorie intake needs to remain very low. So this morning I had tea with milk and honey plus a soft-boiled egg. At lunch I will have a tiny portion of Moroccan tagine - healthy, but full of olive oil so a little goes a long way - and for dinner, who knows... something with lots of veggies and a lean protein, no starch. |
|
No breakfast, coffee with monkfruit and coconut milk
Lunch is usually leftovers from the night before, a turkey wrap, sometimes scrambled eggs, berries. If I feel snacky in the afternoon I have nuts, popcorn, pirates booty, whatever kid snacks are around. Pepperoni and cheese. Dinner is usually something grilled, a salad or roasted veggies, some kind of starch. Sometimes kids foods like mac n cheese or nuggets. We get takeout a few times a month, usually Thai or kebabs. |
To add - like PP, I am a middle aged petite woman. I have binge eating tendencies and too much sugar seems to trigger that behavior for me, so I try to avoid sugar but don't otherwise restrict my diet very much. I also work out like a maniac. I'm "skinny", yes, but if I wasn't mindful of it I'd probably carry an extra 15-20 lbs on my small frame. |
| Question- what do you consider “skinny?” |
| Here we go. Again. |
|
Breakfast- either a smoothie or overnight oats
Lunch- usually some type of salad Dinner- last night was grilled chicken, broccoli and roasted potatoes I almost never snack and only have dessert on rare occasions. To drink, I stick with water, tea and wine on occasion. |
I used to be you, and then I turned 39. I miss the days of eating junk and being skinny while not working out. |
|
Breakfast: low fat plain yogurt, strawberries, one ounce all bean
No snacking Lunch, salad with 4 oz. Turkey, no dressing No snacking Dinner, 4 oz fish, steamed broccoli, salad No snacking no flour, no sugar. If you met me you would call me a gluttonous fat pig in between eating your bagels and cream cheese and chocolate and donuts and alcohol and sandwiches. I have medical issues that force me to constantly monitor my weight but I am sure you think I am gorging myself |
|
Breakfast: whole milk yogurt with fruit and granola (plus two large coffees, most importantly)
Lunch: Salad today, but usually a turkey sandwich Dinner: Probably pizza because I have not planned dinner Not much of a snack or dessert person, limit alcohol to weekends I'm 50 and don't work out, so I'm really skinny fat. But I think all these threads demonstrate is that some of us were lucky to be born with good metabolisms. |
Must be nice to have these genetics. I work out daily and have had a soda (or anything but unsweetened tea/ coffee/ water) in 20 years but would be a size 20 if I ate like this. Even in my 20s. |

What’s considered “skinny”? I’m fairly thin at 5’8 and 127 but not super skinny (more athletic build).
I usually eat oatmeal for breakfast. Lunch varies but it often eggs with bagel/toast/baguette or a sandwich. Dinner is usually some kind of meat, potatoes and green veggie. I mostly drink water but do have a latte most days and alcohol on weekends. I eat some sort of dessert every day and probably twice a week have a takeout meal. I don’t snack a ton but eat bites of my kids food, and exercise regularly. |
