What does early baby movement feel like?

I'm feeling some mildly sharp pains that feel like gas pains, but without the gas (for now) — is that the baby moving?? A friend said that the feeling of the baby moving would be "unmistakable" ... and I definitely think I could mistake what I'm feeling for gas pains, so maybe it's not the baby?

It’s not painful at all, at least not at the beginning. It can kind of feel like little gas bubbles moving around your digestive track though. Sometimes it feels like soft brushes against your stomach. Agree with your friend that it’s pretty unmistakeable when you feel it. How far along are you? Most FTMs don’t feel it until 20 weeks or so.

It felt like a fish swimming inside a fish bowl, but inside your uterus. Like a feather dancing around.

It was not painful at all, especially at the start. It was my absolute favorite part of pregnancy!

I wouldn’t call the first movements unmistakable at all for the first baby. For me it felt like the faintest of muscle twitches, and I didn’t know for sure that it was the baby for a week or two, as the movements became stronger.

It felt to me movement like a centipede moving in the old arcade game centipede...just swishing and moving around.

A little “blip” like a tiny fish flipping over. So subtle you’ll doubt it for a while

Popcorn popping

I don't feel like it's obvious, and it does often feel like gas - but not gas PAINS, just like, gas moving around your system. Early movement is not at all painful - it's more of a flutter. If there's pain, and it's early, that's not movement.

If it’s painful, it’s not the baby. At first.

As PP said, like bubbles...

Wait until your baby hiccups in utero!

It is not sharp at all. It can be uncomfortable or slightly painful at the end, but never sharp.

If you’ve ever had a muscle spasm in your eye it feels kind of like that.

No, not painful when they’re that small. It felt like something flipping or turning. Did not feel like gas.
In the third trimester it is a different story. Feels like the baby wants out.

This isn't the baby moving but I used to feel something like cramps - my belly would sort of tighten. It's I think your uterus expanding or something. Maybe that is what you are feeling?
