What’s with the stereotype of weird pregnancy cravings? I’m nauseous from hunger but everything sounds bad. Especially if I have to cook it myself. 16 weeks and still feeling this way. Anyone else find solutions to this? I’m at the point where I really need to start gaining weight according to my doctor. All day I procrastinate about eating, it’s just miserable. When I’m not pregnant I love food so this is weird and frustrating.
I feel this and am having the same problem. I force myself to eat regularly (like four times a day at least) which helps a bit with the nausea. Although the quality of my "meals" can get pretty sketchy -- I had peanut butter on apple slices for dinner yesterday and yogurt with maple syrup for lunch today. For me, in this pregnancy, protein is easier to manage than carbs and also is better for me so I usually start there. It's rough, though. I hope your nausea lets up soon.
Aww def don’t cook something that will make you reluctant to eat. I loved chocolate milk and grilled cheese.
I’m in the same boat...I thought nausea would go away by the second trimester! I find that I have less nausea in the mornings, so I just try to get in as much nutrients as I can then and snack on whatever feels ok the rest of the day. Green smoothies have been my go-to.

Prepacking snack cups really helped for me. I’d go through a big stack because I’d get nauseated if I were hungry. It was back when I was going to the office but I’d bring a snack pretty much for each hour. Some crackers and cheese in one; fresh fruit; almonds and yogurt covered raisins...
I was lucky because my craving was blueberries, so I ate a lot of those. |
The answer for me was always Cheerios with milk.
I remember this well. The only thing I could bring myself to eat was instant ramen.
I’m the same way at 9weeks. Cereal, oatmeal, and peanut butter crackers have been my go-tos for this.
Graham crackers : pregnancy :: ginger ale : air travel.
cereal with milk is pretty much the only thing appealing. I'm more likely to eat food if I order it rather than something I cook. I cannot stand food that I also have to cook.
|
Drink your calories! Make a smoothie: ice, banana, water maybe a scoop of protein powder...simple ingredients.
My pregnancy nausea was triggered by strong smells of any kind; burned toast/popcorn, my body lotion, someone’s reheated microwave meal. I needed lots of fresh air and ice water! |

I had this issue and all I could choke down for a bit was saltines and ginger ale. And popsicles. So I did. The nausea went away after about 18 weeks (I had twins). Then I could eat again.

Sweet potato fries?
Yes I experienced this with all my pregnancies. Luckily my appetite improved in the second trimester. In the beginning I always wished there was something, anything (!) I really craved so I could treat myself. But, no, nothing ever stood out as particularly appetizing.
I was like this for FORTY WEEKS. My poor husband. I would cry, "I'm HUNGRY but for WHAT?!" every damn night. It's like a craving you cannot satisfy.
