McLean Interest Form - Not sure what to do next

My child would like to play travel soccer (she has done rec for 4 years and is also training with Capstone). She is 10. I am not trying to get her on an elite team. She just wants to play with better and more focused players more regularly than rec. I filled out the interest form for McLean since they have announced they aren't doing try-outs but have heard nothing. Not even an email saying "we will contact you". Has anyone else filled that form out and not heard from anyone? Should I just assume all the McLean teams are full and they aren't calling anyone back?

And if that is the case, would you suggest I reach out to Falls Church (PAC)? Trying to pick a team who will have practices near where we live and I've been told that Arlington lower teams are too competitive and it would be too hard at her age to join one.

Any advice would be welcome.

We did the same over the summer and got a quick response from McLean after a follow-up call to the age group director.

That said, they are probably in no huge rush, given that the travel season runs Aug-May and they probably assume you are looking for a new team starting next fall.

PAC is a good alternative, especially if you are not trying for elite. The only people I know dissatisfied with PAC are those who wanted a more elite/intense experience as they got older.

PAC has some very good teams but they don't have girls teams at every age group. Very good coaches, though, and worth asking.

Just curious, OP mentions that McLean is not having tryouts. Is that at this moment or at all for the upcoming year? It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't have tryouts.

They are having ECNL tryouts. They are not having formal tryouts for the lower teams, meaning how it was before covid with hundreds of kids on the field. The teams, especially at the younger ages, have very full rosters already even at their lowest level. They didn't have tryouts last year, and instead did this same interest form. Where there are gaps, they are inviting kids to practice with current teams. The current teams are doing tryouts for higher level teams over the next few weeks.

Your DD would be fine on a McLean Gold or Arlington Silver or Gold team. Some good players there but not impossible to make those teams at that age if coming from rec.

Had a similar thing happen but my DD was on a travel team(neighboring clubs top team).
