Would you pick private over AAP for shy kid

Anonymous
My 6th grade AAP student just got his report card of many 3s. I know this is not the end of the world but he is in a large (30-32) hybrid class that was full virtual until right before spring break. He does not participate and mostly keeps his camera off. I feel he is just coasting along. We can very easily afford private school. DS is not exactly struggling but he is not thriving and definitely not reaching his full potential. I fear he will just get lost in middle school.

This is not a covid only question but for middle and high school. He loves science and math and is getting 3s, not challenged, barely handing his work in.

We have a seven figure income so private school tuition will not change our lifestyle. We do have two younger children who we may or may not also send to private school.
