| I've been a very happy Prius owner and am looking to add something slightly bigger as our family's second car. I'm obsessed with the 2017 Prius V but they are hard to find! Since the RAV4 Hybrid essentially drove the Prius V off the market, I'm wondering if I should consider that instead. Yesterday I parked my regular-sized Prius next to a RAV4 and the RAV4 looked huge to me! I know the Prius V is bigger than my current car, but since it's not an SUV it doesn't seem, well, oversized. Am I just averse to the RAV4 since I've never owned an SUV? Advice welcome! Thanks. |

I have a regular Prius myself and have kept my eye out for a nice, used Prius V. The few that are on the market are quite pricey so I'm still on the sidelines.
The Rav4 used to be a little SUV but has added a lot of girth in recent years (like the rest of us). I've ridden in a Rav4 hybrid and it's really nice. The backup camera and other tech make it manageable but still too big and expensive for me. ((Note that I am lonely in that assessment because they are selling like crazy.)) I think you'd get used to the size pretty quickly and there's nothing that's "truck" like about it. Gentle, quiet, smooth. |
| Second-hand report: my sister drove the regular Prius for many, many years (two of them to over 200k miles each) and now has a new RAV4 and loves it and has just bought a second for her husband. I tried to find a used V last year when I needed a new car in a hurry and never found one; I opted against a RAV4 because I needed something car-height for short-legged elderly dogs and elderly people's aging knees, but if not for that I would definitely have considered a RAV4. I do wish the car companies would stop discontinuing their small wagons, but that said, I'd test-drive the RAV4 and see what you think of the size when you're actually behind the wheel. |

I have a 2013 Prius v and the RAV4 does look a lot bigger when I park near one. I love, love, love, love, love my Prius v. I used to have a regular 2005 Prius. The Prius v sits a little higher but seemed basically the same to drive.
I just hope they bring back the Prius v eventually so I won't have to buy a RAV4 when my car dies. |
