| How much do you spend a week on groceries? |
|
Oh geez, not this again.
Check the Off Topic thread. It comes up about every 3 months and it turns into a debate...just like everything else on DCUM ...and please don't ask if anybody uses coupons to save $$. That has also turned into a firestorm. |
| LOL, yes, coupon use is a FIRESTORM. |
| 200 family of 3 |
| I spend $100 each time I go to the grocery store and I go at least three times a week. I spent $120 at Giant yesterday and $130 at Whole Foods on Monday. I also use Washington Green Grocer and diapers.com on a weekly basis. With a house of three boys it's hard not to. They go through a gallon of milk a day. A thingy of strawberries a day. Six apples a day. We eat a lot. |
| Between $100-$150/week for the 3 of us. I don't normally buy meats there as I shop in bulk at Costco for those which is another $200 every 4-6 weeks w/ buying bulk canned goods too. |
| I consistently spend $200 every other week at Costco, which includes diapers and wipes, toilet paper and papertowels. I also spend about $50 to $70 per week at the grocery store. I don't know what I spend at Target, but if I were going to break down the food purchases by the week, I would say maybe an extra $10 per week. This is for a family of five. I can so relate to the PP who goes through a gallon of milk a day - which is why I go to Costco so often. |
| $100 a week with an occasional stock up the pantry trip 200 trip for a family of 3. In the summer it goes down to about 75 with our CSA and community garden. It takes a lot of planning and a lot of cooking from scratch but we are able to eat pretty healthily on this budget. The key seems to be keeping processed foods to a minimum. To do this I shop at 2-3 grocery stores a weekend...safeway, trader joes and the occasional MOM/Whole Foods run. |
| between $150-$250/week. we usually shop at whole foods. |

About $100 a week for just DH and I. But I do a fair amount of cooking and often will spend as much on groceries for a meal that we would going out for dinner--I just love cooking.
We get everything at the grocery store (no Costco or Target) although we buy our toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues online. With a baby on the way, I know we will have to start utilizing Costco or some other alternative for paper goods, diapers, etc. |
