Considering the wood pellet one for my DH for his bday. I don't need a huge professional one.

My neighbor has one and has been happy with it. The pellets will help maintain a consistent heat. And they get REALLY hot so pizzas will cook quickly. My oven goes to 550 so I can do a decent pie on a pizza stone. I was considering an Ooni but ended up buying a smoker instead. I can make pretty great pizzas inside so I went with a different route but I'm still looking at it. That being said, if my wife bought me an Ooni that would be the best gift ever! If your husband likes to cook, that will be an awesome birthday gift.

Love it. Get the karu and the gas adapter. I use the lump and wood. I don't like rhe pellet version and the quality of pellets varies a lot.

When it is cold i use the gas adapter. You needa l9t of accessories. 2 peels, one for launching one for turning, temperature gun, lump charcoal, wood chuncks, and dough. If he is going to go down the dogh rabbit hole there is so much to learn.

Great gift.

My husband just got his (ordered in Nov for his birthday and very back-ordered). He's only used it twice and there is a bit of a learning curve in terms of keeping a consistent level of heat; but pizzas cooked in a minute can't be beat.

Agree with PP about the need for accessories.

If you don’t mind, what oven do you have that goes to 550?

It’s a pain in the butt. Big learning curve. Making fresh dough is a pain. Cooking in a small Ooni leaves little room for error (ie. easy to set pizza on fire). I’ve cooked probably two dozen pizza’s in it and none have been as good as just running down the block to the pizza joint...

Not the same poster, but my oven goes to 550. I didn’t realize that some ovens don’t.

I also use a pizza stone and I let the oven warm up for about a half hour, so it’s good and hot before we put the pizza in. We’ve also used our Weber gas grill outside, but I’m not sure that’s any better than the oven.

Oh, sorry, forgot to say the oven brand. It’s a GE Profile with and induction stove.

My wolf range goes to 550. I use the stone setting and use a pizza stone. It’s good pizza but nothing like what a super hot 900 degree oven can put out
