| What are the best Baltimore public high schools? What are the ones we should stay away from? Any advice on navigating Baltimore publics is welcome |

Either one. Dh has a new job in Baltimore so we are looking into where we should move. |

Not PP, but that’s a very large area to consider. I would say if you want to go public, don’t move to Baltimore City. For Baltimore County, there are several good areas to consider. I’d probably start with Towson or Catonsville. You might also want to look at Howard County, like the Ellicott City area...not a bad commute to downtown. |

| Towson or Timonium would be good choices. Towson HS or Dulaney HS. Further north is Hereford HS which is more rural. Stay away from the city school unless your kid gets into City or Poly. |

My kids went to school in Baltimore City and we had a good experience but you have to be careful and diligent. We lived in the north part of the city near Hampden. My kids went to a small charter school elementary on the east side of Baltimore. The charters schools are by lottery but usually decent elementary schools. It’s middle and high where things get tricky.
For middle school, if your child gets into an honors program, most schools are good. For high school, Poly, City College or the School for the Arts are all good options. The best neighborhoods are Medfield Heights, Roland Park, Mt. Washington, Homewood, Lakewood, CedarCroft (imho) which are in the northern part of the city. Towson, Joppa, Nottingham all have good schools and aren’t far from 95 or 83 which go downtown. We enjoyed living in Baltimore City and wouldn’t have moved if it weren’t for suddenly having a longer commute than anticipated. |
