To Cerlage or Not to Cerclage

Anonymous
I have my high risk and OB Drs telling me that they don't feel I need a cerclage this pregnancy (I gave birth to DC prematurely a few years ago). I just went to see another high risk Dr and she suggests one now!

To the readers who have/have not - what are my advantages and disadvantages - besides going into early labor?!

I am very confused and don't want to have a stitch when I am already prone to infection.

Research it yourself, it will make you more confident.

Having delivered DC1 at 32 weeks (no cerclage or anything), I wondered if one would be appropriate for DC2, but was told that cerclage is done early on in pregnancy, not later. Perhaps it is only for certain kinds of premature risks that specifically affect the cervix?

I have progesterone injections weekly (DH does them) - my mother had the same medication when pregnant with me: progesterone has been proven over the years to be very effective at preventing preterm deliveries, and so far no adverse effects have been discovered for either mother or baby.

Good luck!
