Potty training question

Anonymous
We started potty training my 25 month old son.

About 4 days ago he peed for the first time in the potty. We celebrated and got rid of diapers right away. The following day we bought underwear and another portable potty, etc. Every time he sits on the potty he pees and has pooped there twice as well. He has not had a pee incidence since (possibly because we put him on the potty every hour), but has already pooped in his underwear 3 times. I have two older girls and while they had several accidents once we started potty training, I don’t believe they had this many poop accidents.

Is my son not ready yet? He occasionally comes and says “peepee” and asks to be put on the potty, but has never done that for poop.

Is there something else I should be doing? Bribes?
Thanks you

Stick with it. He is getting it. Poop takes a little bit longer for some kids. Dont quit.

Doing great! Just stick with it. My son was really encouraged by seeing his poop in the toilet, counting it and loved flushing it (poop humor and boys!)

Your child is absolutely ready! Don’t even think of going backwards.

Defecation is “opening the door inside and push”. We, as humans, move our bowels. It’s a muscle we control unlike urination which is release. He just isn’t used to sitting down to move his bowels. Try a naked day and watch him like a hawk for signs he’s about to poop. Then get him on the potty. Also talk about pooping when he’s on the potty especially after meals. My toddler regularly poops after he eats and I sit him on the potty to poop even when he hasn’t mentioned he has to go.

Thank you everyone! Today again he had zero pee accidents and apparently pooped while sitting on the stroller in his underwear. He was with our nanny, but that is what she said...

I bought a bunch of little party favors cars and I will start giving him one every time he poops in the potty.
