Where have all the nanny recommendations gone?

Anonymous
Since Yahoo groups closed and Nextdoor took over, it seems like the dozens of recommendations of people's former nannies have disappeared into thin air. Is that because of the pandemic? Or am I not looking in the right places? I'm on Nextdoor but that's it.

TIA

Yes but it's not at all the same as what used to be on our neighborhood listservs.

And?

Things change. DCUM has a nanny forum. You asked where ALL of the recommendations went. You were told that this place is still here.

Are you this unkind and humorless in real life too?

It’s possible that several things are causing this.

1) Families are holding on to great nannies right now.

2) Nannies are leaving the profession after a year of dealing with Covid, virtual learning, WAHP, and the micromanagement of WAHP.

3) Families who would be parting with nannies in normal times are waiting to see what will happen this summer and next school year WRT Covid.

So there are, simply, fewer nannies seeking work right now, unless they have just realized they are underpaid, then they are not informing their employers until they have secured a new, better paying job.
