Tuckahoe?

Anonymous
I'm considering a house where my kid would go to Tuckahoe. What is the reputation of this school? How does it compare to other Arlington schools? Also, I welcome any thoughts on Swanson and Yorktown, as it feeds into these schools.

All the schools in N. Arlington are well regarded. I have heard some concerns with overcrowding at Tuckahoe and I believe they may have moved some students from there to another school recently to help ease that. However, overcrowding is an issue in most N. Arlington schools. Swanson and Yorktown are both well regarded as well.

It has a good reputation and I've heard of overcrowding too, but that that is pretty much all of N. Arlington. I do not have a child who attends, however, so all I know is what I've heard about it in that regard.

I do know that Tuckahoe is a beautiful school. Not only is Tuckahoe park is right next to it but the school itself has a nature and gardening program called Discovery Schoolyard--students and teachers plant flowers and veggies. There are classes held outside in the garden and in the Greek Pavillion. It's just beautiful. Nice playground too.

I have two children at Tuckahoe. We love it. I'm very involved in the PTA. The teachers and administrators are wonderful.
