Great idea, let the crime wave increase

| Bye bye to the annual 20k I've historically spent going to DC restaurants in the past decade. I'm sure I'm not alone. Enjoy your economic decline, DC |
| You can use the money you’re saving to buy yourself some punctuation, perhaps. |
More appropriately, please make a contribution to Mr. Anwar's gofundme account. Thank you. |
| Good timing, as Jack Nicht famously said, this town needs an enema |
|
The police would not have been able to stop that. That's parenting. |
With a greater police presence, a policeman would have likely been nearby and thwarted the car jacking. |
| Has the DC police force ever been truly competent or respected? Surely not. Who cares? If the money could be spent usefully elsewhere, why not? |
Came here to post the same - MPD is utterly incompetent and would have missed or ignored the referenced car jacking if it happened right in front of them because they would have had their noses in their phones. It doesn't matter if MPD has 3600 or 1600 officers as none of them do any actual policing - DC would be better of using the money to pay criminals to stay out of trouble. |
LOL - you are spending $55 a day dining out in DC? Doesn't matter though - sales tax revenue is a tiny part of the DC budget. Bye bye! |
You should sign up for the force if you can do better. Too bad you are too much of a coward. |
Whatever. Doesn’t change the historically poor policing abilities of MPD nor the lack of respect everyone has for the department. No one will notice any effect in defunding them as pp pointed out above. |
Maybe not, but I've never found them heavy handed which is what the defund movement is partially about. Recall simply being told to move along for youthful infractions. The idea that any part of DC is 'over policed" strikes me as rather ridiculous. I would like to see the money spent elsewhere and then reduce police funding if it is working well (like the social services responding to mental health calls). You know, try before you buy. |

Oh great, more crime. Thanks, Charles Allen. Thanks dkheads.
I’m sure sending social workers to crack houses will prove effective. Even the Atlantic notes tough on crime policing worked. Anyway, stay woke! https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/03/is-americas-great-crime-decline-over/618381/ |
