| Especially in SE. Five people shot earlier today in Congress Heights two of which are deceased. I'm a native who attended DCPS EOTP, but as an older adult, I guess I'm more aware to what is going on in the city. I know I sound like a broken record, but folks are still moving here left and right. |
| Criminal justice reform at work. |

This is a direct result of the pandemic. You think your stress levels are rising? The poorer have lost their jobs at a much higher rate, many of them work out of the home if they do work, many live multiple people to a room and have to stay at home all together for a year. Schools used to serve as a contained social outlet for teenagers or at least something to keep them occupied.
How many poor DC kids are actually logging on and learning all day? From what I see in my own house, probably not a lot. |
|
Now if businesses really start to leave due to crime it’s a rap for DC.

Agreed! I also grew up here and am only realizing as an adult how awful it is the city leadership continues to ignore the issues in half the city. I was desensitized as a child, and apparently I'm not the only one. It's unconscionable how many residents are murdered. |
| This is not new or even shocking. But then I have lived in this area my whole life. |
The businesses that depended on commuters, hospitality, and large events are going to die. None of that is coming back in large scale. That’s going to effect revenue, real estate, and taxes big time. It’s going to get bad. |
This is horrible. For those who didn’t click on the link, the owner of a cheese boutique and her business partner, who is also a woman, are closing their business because shootings were happening on their block. The last straw was that her business partner was sexually assaulted in broad daylight in front of the business. |
Wow. So so sad. And that’s a pretty decent neighborhood |
Kennedy street a pretty decent neighborhood? Since when? |
Seriously. I live around here and there are shootings weekly. |
|
It looks better. It's like people who move to Petworth thinking that it looks pretty. You couldn't pay me to live in Petworth. |

So why is Bowser still Mayor with little reproach?
Everyone has looked the other way on local issues when she stands in front of her use of lane dividing paint on a city street and yet, people are dying and businesses closing, schools are not fully reopen and homelessness is everywhere - right behind her back. |
| I am hopeful Bowser won’t be re-elected. But, that’s a while away. Meanwhile, one of the worst vaccination rates in the USA, encampments and crime increasing. |
