Bancroft, LAMB or WIS - Kindergarten

Anonymous
Would you send your Spanish-dominant kid to Bancroft, LAMB or WIS for kindergarten?

Next year? WIS because it’s nearly guaranteed to be full time in person.

Then it would come down to do you value both Montessori and language or just language?

I have K student who has never done Montessori and it be would not be a good choice for him, so given the option I would select Bancroft.

Uh it also comes down to how much money do you not care about throwing away? Sorry I mean paying for private school?

Oh yeah also lamb takes about 4 kindergartners a year so there’s that.

Yeah but pandemic lottery could be different, or this could be someone currently at LAMB who lives IB for Bancroft and who (wisely) applied to WIS for the fall as a back up.

At this point, if money were not a limiting factor, WIS.

If we could afford it and deal with commute WIS/private. I’m soured on HRCS and public after this year. I was never interested in private before but now thinking about options we can afford without going parochial since we are not Catholic.

None of the above. I would choose Oyster—hands down.

We have a similar choice (ok-ish IB, DCI feeder, or WIS (PK)) and chose WIS. We will deal with the commute. Public/charter schools handled the pandemic so badly I’m sure there will botch the handling of other issues as well

PP here again- you should consider whether you want to pay the WIS tuition long term, though, in case you don’t win the lottery again because it is unlikely that you would lottery in to LAMB again.

I think private school at that young of age/grade is just wasting money with all the public options available to you.

We attend Bancroft and have no complaints. Teachers are great and my kids peer group is great in terms of academics.

Not unlikely. Impossible. LAMB doesn’t take new kids past K.

No ma’am. Not a waste of money when you’re getting 5 days in person. Imagine if your kid did virtual K this year. Sounds like you might be a little bitter. If I could afford it, I would definitely go private. School will not be available to everybody in person this upcoming year.

I think the two public schools mentioned here will be five days per week in fall if that’s your goal.

Lamb has more kids back now than almost any other charter.

Assume this is the situation. In which case, go to WIS now, and move to OA later if you want (if you can afford to send a kid to WIS while living in bounds for Bancroft, then you can afford to move to OA).
