I know it's the time to register for K in MOCO. If I have a child who will not be attending K at our neighborhood school, but going private this year instead, do I need to let our neighborhood school know? |
nope. |
No, you don't need to let them know. They don't even know about your family and will not miss you--there is no "Big Brother" master list somewhere are all five-year-olds in your neighborhood, LOL.
|
PP--meant "of all five-year-olds." |
You do have to let them know if DC is not going to attend K in private, but rather is being held back and going to pre-K at the private school. Is that the case with your DC? |
Well, they may come and steal your children during the night, but that is the risk you will take by not informing everyone in a 10 mile radius of your decision. |
Given that there is a law requiring all children aged 5 by September 1 to attend school, I don't think OP is unreasonable in asking her question. I don't know how that law is enforced or how anyone would know, but I don't see any reason to mock the question. |
It's definitely not a stupid question.
Here is the relevant state code: http://www.marylandpublicschools.org/MSDE/nonpublicschools/nplegal/annotated_code/7_301.htm As long as your child will be recieving instruction as a K student next year you do not need to talk with your local public school district. |
