Fake News! Diet & Exercise Edition

For a couple of years now, I have read these people prefer “dad bods” articles. I declare fake news! Stop trying to make dad bods seem sexy and what people want. Just no! It’s not going to happen.

I’ve always liked guys that are a little stocky. Nice to cuddle with.

Eh, different strokes for different folks. I didn't understand the dad bod craze, but I'm more into lanky types and I know that most women aren't into what I'm into.

It's the same for men. Some like model types, some are grossed out by big implants, some like chubby women, etc etc.

If you have a body there's someone out there who's into it. It's weird to make it into "news". Everyone has a type.

I'm not into the chiseled, overly tone physique. I like a softer look. But that picture they use for a dad bod isn't really what people mean by dad bod. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2021/03/25/dad-bods-are-the-biggest-turn-on-for-singles-amid-pandemic/amp/

Those are dad bods and my preferred look

I hate the "I work out at the gym for 2 hours a day and don't indulge in any bad food" look. 6+ packs and bulging my muscles do not get me hot. No thanks.

Agree. They are typically only interested in themselves and make terrible partners. I would rather something closer to dad bod than the gym rat

I have to guess that many of the people who prefer this look are overweight themselves and feel more comfortable with someone who matches them.

I'm 1356. I'm a size 6, which seems pretty average. Ive dated the gym rat guys before and I just don't find it fun. Everything centered around their time at the gym and what they could eat. I go to the gym and I eat well, but I don't stress if I miss a workout. And I don't stress if I eat a plate of nachos downed with a couple of margaritas.

Plus, I think people think dad bods are these guys with huge beer guts. That's not what a dad bod is. A dad bod is a guy with some muscle definition but had a little bit of a pooch instead of a 6 pack. At least that's what DH is and what I tend to think of as a dad bod.

Yeah. I would say dad bod isn’t overweight or obese, just upper end of heathy weight range , maybe an extra 5-10, with normal muscle tone.

I agree with OP. To me muscular guys (but not steroid users) are the most attractive. Letting yourself go is not sexy. And no you don't even have to be an obsessive gym rat to avoid a dad bod.

I’ve always preferred the lanky look on guys too. My DH

I half agree with OP. I find the dadbod moment annoying. Women, you know: the ones (in most cases) who actually HAD the baby, with all its altering effects, are under so much pressure to be hot moms, but culturally we give dads a pass?

Guys in both articles look fat and unhealthy to me. A little softness is fine. A gut is not.

I'm tiny and lean and my ideal physical type is a guy who is tall, strong, and could lose 20 lbs. It just is what it is. I like the difference between our bodies.

Actually, I'm going to amend this. I have no idea how many pounds it is. I don't know what different weights look like on men. I liked the guys in the Post article, but a little thinner would be good, too.

I agree with you both. The guys in the article aren’t what people normally think of when they say that they find dad bods attractive. Like OP said, fake news. This is a dad bod:
