Baby Bjorn question

Ladies
I have BB (baby bjorn) and my little son is 2.5 weeks now. He is 8.07 lbs and 21.5 inches as of Monday (now maybe a bot more). I know that BB is to be worn when baby is at least 8lbs and 22 inches. I tried BB on myself and put in my son. I am not planning to carry him for long periods of time right now, I plan to let him be bigger before going out with BB. But I have a question. When i put him in, he faces my chest. Where his head should be - on the BB back wall or on my chest? It seems it is more convinient for him to put his head on the chest. How it should be to make sure I do not do any bad to his neck/head?

In my experience, baby may rest head on your chest, but may also look around and rest head on back of baby bjorn. I found that as baby got over 10 pounds, the baby bjorn was REALLY uncomfortable and I ended up going with a baby sling from Hotslings. It has a better mechanism of distributing the weight and the baby is more cradled.

you could also try the ergo, it is a great carrier, front, side and back. Congrats on your baby!

We loved our Bjorn and also still enjoy a sling.

For the Bjorn, when he was little, he rested his head on my chest but you must be sure to keep the back/support turned up so if he moves his head back, it will support his neck. When he gets older, he might really enjoy facing out - ours loved it!

As far as comfort goes, the trick is to be sure the straps in the back cross across your back low, *below* your shoulder blades (the lower the better for me). I used to see people walking around all the time with the crossed part up high on their back - no wonder it hurt!!! Keep that part low on your back and you will (hopefully!) feel nothing. Both my DH and I got alot of use out of the bjorn carrier and I am 5'1" and he is 6'2"

Enjoy your new baby!

I found the BB to be useless and really annoying to put on with all the straps and such. Plus, it seemed I only used it for a few weeks while my DD was still little, but then she started growing really fast and the BB was useless.

I had my DD face me since she couldn't support her head and her neck wasn't quite strong enough for her to face forward.

When she got a bigger and stronger she did face forward, but ended up with her head bend down because she kept wanting to suck/bite the ridge of the BB. So silly.
