"Most but not all demand expected to be met" - does anyone know how they will decide who gets in? Do they prioritize the kids already on the waitlist from Term 3? I asked our principal about this but have not gotten a response.

Janney is offering kids two mornings per week for quarter 2.

This is great and the principal has been working tirelessly to get these logistics figured out, given the cohort restrictions.

however, this IS NOT MEETING ALL DEMAND. Meeting "all demand" is normal length school days. It's 4-5 days per week. "Meeting all demand" is not 7 hours of live school per week.

Previous poster.
I mean to say "quarter 4". (Not quarter 2)

It is probably still on a school-by-school basis

Is this for everybody who wants it in every grade? "Meeting demand", to me, means everybody gets at least something.

Yes both the OP and the tweet say that not all demand will be met

The tweet says "significant portion of the demand." No idea what that means but not getting hopes up since DCPS put out a freaking press release and an ad in the Post about how the schools were reopened when most had less than 20% of kids back

How do they even know which families are interested in IP? The last survey I filled out for my school was months and months ago. I definitely want my kids IP now.

Our school did a survey a couple of weeks ago.

At my school neither of my child’s teachers are returning for Term 4. (Grades 4&5). My school is not switching anyone’s teacher at this point in the year either, which I agree with. However, due to sheer bad luck, neither of my kids will be offered an IPL spot based on their teachers not returning. They will be offered a CARES spot apparently though. Not sure we’ll take it up since at this point a year + into this we’ve got a routine at home that works.
Will hope for full time 5/days in fall.

I want my kids for in person instruction. It is important that it is not sitting in a classroom watching a device but rather the teacher (not an aid) is instructing them.

also - we want in person - but if that means I need to pick up my kid at 11:30 it does not work! I am working and if that is the option being offered I need to default to distance.

AND - it is ridiculous to expect teachers to now figure out how to teach simulcast.

Ours did too. At our EOTP ward 4 school, 69% wanted to return.

Ours did, too, for all students not already in IPL.

So you want it exactly as you want and only in the way most convenient to you?

If in person is that important to you, figure out a way to make 11:30 work. Most people can take a short break to pick up kids. If you can't, see if you can hire someone to bring them back to your house. You may even have someone who lives nearby who would be happy to let your kid walk back with them.

The pandemic has caused all sorts of logistical hurdles for people to simply figure out.
