Stocking the cupboards in the event of a pandemic in the USA

I went to 6 stores between yesterday and today and none of them had hand sanitizer, clorox, lysol, purell, childrens tylenol or childrens motrin suspension. Safeway was well stocked with toilet paper and Bounty though.

PP here. I see people selling sanitizer and wipes on ebay and craigslist for $15 to $20 a bottle/box.

I'm not local, but have you tried places like Dollar General? My DG here had everything on that list, this morning, except the purell (which I was looking for)and the paper goods. Even Dollar Tree today had bleach, lysol and all the paper goods-I didn't check for the kids meds because I don't buy it there.

Yet, Target is out of half that stuff and forget Sams club.

Haven't tried Dollar General (they are usually out of stock on any sale item so I doubt they have any of these left). I tried several Giants, Walgreens, CVS, Aldi and Safeway. I was surrprised when I went to CVS - the entire Childrens pain and fever reducer section was wiped out (not even the store brand) and they had a truck in last night I believe. That CVS actually showed in stock for that store when I checked online but nothing at the store. Not surprisingly the overpriced Infants Tylenol ($10 for 1 oz) was still available.

Yup. I could even understand trying to sell it at twice the price, but seriously, $20 for a bottle of Purell 12 oz? There was this one person selling 35 count wipes for $5 (a bit more reasonable than the $20 Purell or GermX) but they live so far away.

I hope stores restock soon.

PP here. I got a raincheck from Giant for the $1.49 price for Lysol, but what good is a raincheck if the stores don't restock enough. The manager at one store said we have to be here early in the morning when store opens to have a chance of getting these high demand items. They have even posted a notice of Limit 4 per customer. And shelves are still wiped out.

One major chain store in Helsinki is selling hand sanitizer for almost 40 euros a bottle.
