Arlington Soccer email - quarantines up 300% from two months ago

Anonymous
Return to Play email just came out. Are soccer families that reckless, assuming this is travel families?

300% sounds dramatic--can you be more specific? Is this going from one case to 4 cases?

DP. The email didn't provide any other specifics, so we don't know the magnitude of the issue. It doesn't necessarily mean there have been issues with covid spreading within teams, though.

It has to be travel families since rec starts today. I have heard of single cases on teams or exposures that result in larger quarantines but haven't heard of outbreaks. So hopefully that means the procedures are working.

What exact numbers are we talking? If you don’t know, then it’s a little ridiculous to conclude that 300% represents a general recklessness among soccer families.

We haven't heard of any outbreaks within teams either. Our team (which had no cases in the fall) had one player in quarantine for the first week of spring season, but that was due to other exposure and the player was already in quarantine before the season started. So it had zero impact on the team other than their absence for the first week of practice, and no risk to other players.

Both are friends that play for Arlington had quarantines, one just 2 weeks ago,,,but the other was ages ago.

I think most Clubs have had at least one player test positive by now.

However, what is meant by 300%. You can't throw that out there without data or an explanation.

Did they go from 1 case to 30? Did it run wildfire through one team--or multiple teams, etc?

Since ASIST ? None of our games were canceled for ASIST?

DP here - this is all it said "With vaccinations, people feel more secure but Arlington Soccer quarantines are up 300% from two months ago, well above the rates of last fall. Please continue to be safe. It would be a shame to stumble this close to the goal."

I'm not too worried about it for my rec young elementary player. They play outside for a limited amount of time under close parental supervision and they aren't carpooling, eating together, staying overnight together, etc.

I'm OP and didn't have time to come back. PP posted the text from the email, no metrics so maybe it's just fear mongering but that's a pretty sobering number to toss out there.

Assuming Arlington teams are maintaining the same COVID protocols, anyone think the spike in quarantining/single COVID cases related to kids returning to school?
