Domestic adopting/foster care- age and health history restrictions for parents?

Anonymous
Hi- I'd be interested about the type of age and health history restrictions people have come across in the domestic adoption/foster care arena. Any links or info from local programs would be appreciated.

That's a very broad and vague request. Can you be a little more specific about how old you (and any spouse/partner) are and what is/are the health issue(s)?

Generally speaking, some agencies won't deal with prospective adoptive parents over a certain aribitrary age - so you just work with another agency. The home study includes a form that your MD must fill out and it simply asks if you can likely raise a child to adulthood.

Why are you restricting yourself to local agencies?

As a broad brush rule of thumb - many agencies say one parent must be no older than 45 y.o. for infant, or no older than 45 years older than the age of the child at issue.
