Hello,
Could anyone recommend a good babysitter background check service from experience? I saw that Care.com offers something but I've also seen bad reviews of their offering. If you have experience with any good options, I'd really appreciate a referral. |
Having disputed information through care, I know they run a surface check through sterling. It checks only online records, only in the states that the credit report and/or irs know they’ve lived, and only in counties with online records. Since many courts don’t use ssn, it can also return false positives (it did for me). If the nanny disputes, they get the full printout; if not, you get a 1 page/paragraph summary. |
Call your state and see about how to get a CORI. Your local school system may be able to help. Verify what information you can. |
Call me old-fashioned but I would just ask the Nanny to bring me a printout from the local police station. |
I’m hiring a nanny too and really would appreciate advice from anyone who has used a background check service. |
Get the fingerprint one. In California it’s called Trustline. You need to pay for it but it’s really the only way to be safe. The care.com ones and other online services don’t take into account that the sitter could be lying about her social security number.
Our two sitters appreciated having it for their other jobs too. |
I think trust line is only california? |
