LCPS is moving to 4 day a week 4/20

Email from Ziegler this afternoon. Seems like DL families won’t get to opt in. Currently enrolled Hybrid only.

Praise the Lord. I just counted and it will be 8 weeks of 4 days/week.

Yeah I don’t know why it’s 4.20 rather than 4.13, my guess is schools have to redo schedules and classrooms and get furniture in and it’ll take time to do it. But I’m pretty happy. Just wish more of my kids could choose to come in!

They are allowing switches space available. Obviously more possible at some schools than others. I just moved my ES student this week, in anticipation of this coming.

I don't know how they can do this without allowing families who chose all DL to now opt in. Since the two choices have now changed - from choosing between all DL or 2 days/week to choosing between all DL or 4 days/week - the new 4 days/week option needs to be open for everyone who wants it. Many families chose to remain all DL because they felt the risk for just 2 days in person just wasn't worth it. Had the choice been between all DL or 4 days in person, many would have made a different decision. Also, with the hybrid 2 days/week, half the class was home on any given day so those who stayed all DL weren't the only 2-3 kids attending virtual on a given day. I think 4 days/week is a good thing but they need to figure out a way to make it available to everyone, not just "if there is space". There needs to be space for everyone who wants it or it shouldn't happen. Just my 2 cents..I'm sure many won't agree ...

We are not in LCPS and I totally agree with this. They changed the choices, simple as that.

Yeah they’re doing that now. It seems moving forward now that this is announced they won’t and certainly not in numbers. Be glad you got in when you did. They’re not going to allow most who ask now.

We are not in LCPS and I totally agree with this. They changed the choices, simple as that.

They already announced at the last board meeting there would be NO survey. That it would take 8-10 weeks to do that and that would put us at the end of the school year.

The FAQ doc says says space permitting until early April then they will cut it off.

In the same breath though, fine. Let's give this a whirl because I think many more people will choose in person next school year (more than they are accounting for, if they are even planning ahead)

They have already said they expect the vast vast majority to be in person in the fall. They know.

Absolutely asinine. Made our decision based on 2 day a week hybrid crap, then they surprise! move the goalposts again, to my kids detriment.

Are they really though? I had a meeting this week and was asked what we'll pick next year. I was amazed. I think they are naively thinking many will stick with DL, homeschool, private... something other than regular school.
