For those with multiple acceptances

Would you be so kind as to let the school that you will not attend know as soon as possible, so that those of us with multiple waitlists may get a chance?? It will give us a little hope : ) Thanks !

We should be so lucky! I don't think that I've waited for the mail to come since I was in college... Looking for some resolution and I've been been pretty calm.

No to Sidwell and Norwood. Yes to GDS. Kindergarten, girl.

We did this a few years ago when DC got into our first choice: on Monday morning after the "big" weekend, we called all the other acceptances as well as waitlists, thanked them profusely, and told them DC would not be enrolling. Please remember that this does not automatically bump kids off the waitlist: schools will not begin notifying waitlist families until the month has elapsed for folks to make their decisions. Good luck to everyone!

Curious, Sidwell made FA decisions already?
Also, why do you think they did not give it?

Please know that many schools "over accept", knowing the average acceptance yield to expect. So if they expect 40 negative responses - they may not look at the wait list until they get through the first 20 negatives. For example, if they are filling a class of 100, they may "accept" 120, knowing they usually average 40 negatives. So they won't dip into the wait list until after the first 20 negatives.

Right schools do not go to their waitlists until after the contract and deposit are due. Plus then sometimes they get too many students. So there's no rush except to meet the deadline! After that the question for waitlisted folks to ask is whether the class is overenrolled.

I'm the OP..thanks for the responses. So is the last PP saying that I really don't have a chance at the FOUR waitlisted schools until June when the contracts are due?! Oh NO!!!!!!!!!! I'm so sad today that my DD could sense something, kept asking what was wrong. Husband on the other hand was happy since he is thrilled about saving money!!!!!! FYI..for those that care, DD had WPPSI high 80's, sweet girl, I would assume good teacher recs and playdate and we are minority. Not one acceptance : (

OP, we are very much trying to do that. Looking to make quick decisions and inform the schools. We want people on the WL to have real opportunity, ASAP.

Hang in there - you should also start calling around to schools that might have rolling admissions in the meantime. Not sure what grade you are looking for, but this is one way to feel like you are taking control of the situation.
