| I have 4 and 7 year olds - when my older daughter was young, we bought all sorts of adorable shoes from Stride Ride, but now the styles are sneakers or boring. Where can I buy under $50 shoes that are adorable and comfortable for my girls? |
| DSW, Nordstrom |
|
I get a lot of stuff at Nordstrom Rack. Very good prices and a lot more variety. I am also that parent who hates those rubber Native shoes with a passion. I've bought some of the velcro sandals from Native and liked them fine, I just hate the rubber shoes with the holes as I can't imagine being comfortable in something like that.
But other people swear by them in the summer, so YMMV. |
| OP again - does anyone have specific brand recommendations, too? |
| My 5 yr old wanted light up sneakers so I got her a pair that were Sketchers online. She's very happy with them. |
+1 Sketchers! |

My daughter likes Sketchers and Vans. We buy from Nordstrom Rack often, because she doesn't care if it's last year's style or whatever.
In the winter, she likes Sorel boots, which now have cute styles. |
| Target has some cute stuff. But make sure to check foot support & quality. |
| Under $50? You are pretty limited to Target and eBay/postmark |
| My 10 year old son just bought a pair of pink light up Vans sneakers for his best friend, It's her 10th birthday next month. We bought them from Nordstrom Rack, they've always been very reliable on quality and efficient on price. He's really excited to give them to her. |
Sketchers, not Vans. I've had a long day at work today. |
This is not remotely true. I've never spent more than $50 and we have shoes from See Kai Run, Puma, Native, Keen, Converse. I shop at DSW, Nordstrom Rack, Target, Gap, Kohls... you just have to shop sales and be flexible on the color you want. Luckily my DD's main request is almost always just "pink" and "sparkly" which is exceedingly easy to satisfy. Only suckers pay full price for this stuff. |
DSW has plenty of brand names for kids under $50 |
