What plant cuttings can I keep in water permanently? Thanks!

Pothos for sure

Spider plants? I usually plant them, but they root well in water alone.

Op here. Thanks for these ideas!

How about 'Wandering dude' Tradescantia zebrina? Has anyone kept these cuttings in water?

Agree on this one. I took some cuttings from my office plants when I left to telework a year ago, and they've been thriving in a vase of water ever since.

I have a very similar one (though not purple on the underside) - I've kept it in water and it's been fine. The plant I have is very fragile though, so if I touch the leaves the wrong way, they fall off. But I have one in soil too and it acts the same way, so it's not because it's in water.

They will survive, but the roots will quickly get long, pretty icky after a while.

NP I start mine in water to root but then transfer to soil after a coupe if weeks. Are you saying then can stay in water indefinitely?

Arrow root, mostly. Sometimes they thrive for a long time in water and then suddenly die.
