Summer Camp Experiences at ESF at Holy Cross, Sidwell or Green Acres?

Anonymous
Does anyone have any experience with the above camps? I'm leaning towards either Green Acres or ESF at Holy Cross because of daily swim instruction.. thanks all.

We did Sidwell for years- we were not looking for a swim option (neighborhood pool club was fine). Worked really well for our commutes and a nice diversity of programming as the kids got older (started with day camp and moved on the the more specialized programs and enrichment/academics as they got older).

We did a couple of years at ESF. They're ok. Nonprofits do it better, IMO.

Sidwell is great.

We've done ESF and Green Acres. I prefer Green Acres for younger kids - Grade 2 and below. Because the camp runs in 3 week blocks the kids tend to bond better with each other and the counselors which is great for the younger grades. They have a well rounded selection of activities too and DC loved the aftercare which was mostly in the swimming pool plus they have a great playground. ESF swimming was only available during the 30 minute swim blocks during the day. ESF also have more turnover in terms of new kids each week. I did like that ESF have a wider range of STEM, Art and other specialized classes that run for a week so you can mix those with the regular day camp.

My daughter has loved, loved, loved Green Acres camp. As stated above, there is a great bond with the counselors and other campers since everyone is there for the same amount of time and that doesn't change week to week. Plenty of great activities. I'd highly recommend.
