Goalie Camps for High School Students?

Anonymous
Looking for a good goalie summer camp that is aimed at high school students. Would prefer DC but open to Maryland/Virginia closer in.

Thanks!

Yes! My son has been to a bunch of her day camps and there is a good mix of boys and girls in attendance.

OP - thanks for the rec. No one has anything closer in though?

Alternatively, does anyone have any recs for private goalie coaches in DC? Could be just a really good high school upper class or college kid...my kid does two sports and fitting soccer in has been tough so just looking to stay competitive for the fall.

When is too early to start GK training? I see the holiday camp starts in 3rd grade. Is that too early? I've heard kids shouldn't do formal GK training until they are around 10/5th grade.

Bill Hamid does GK training 1 on 1 or small groups he does it in falls church vs and the turf fields at RFK. His website is really outdated but he is still training. www.billhamidgk.com

First, if your kid is interested in being a keeper it is never too early BUT it is helpful if they continue working on footwork in the field. The best keepers are good with their feet and hands.

Also, please please please, to OP, it is goal keeper not goalie in soccer. This isn't be being a typical DC Urban mom and dad turd it is about looking smart to/for your kid.

Are you serious? it is exactly dc urban mond and dad turd. get over it. Not everyone has to know the proper language as they enter in the sport. next you will be schooling parents on positions by numbers and your deep insight to formations and ...

enjoy the game my friend, cheers mate, Ha

What kind of camp? Day camp or overnight camp?

If you are looking for great goalie training in DMV and MD, i'd highly recommend Ed Brown and Academy One Goalkeeping. Son has been there three years and developed tremendously.

They do an extensive and intense summer camp at St. Mary's College in July that is very good.

I second Ed Brown. My son has learned a lot from him in a short period of time.

Where are the classes? I don’t get that from the website.

The website can be confusing. He runs classes in Germantown, Arlington and baltimore. I think he has one other location.
