Montgomery county childcare capacity

Montgomery county, MD says childcare can return to group sizes and staff-child ratios in accordance with Maryland regulations. Does that mean childcare can be opened at full capacity? My kid’s childcare laid off many teachers during covid, and they cut my 4 year old class size from 2:24 to 1:15. And, I wonder if daycare is allowed to be opened at full capacity, will they reach out to hire more teachers, find more kids to enroll, enroll kids on waiting list, and so on, and will that make daycare covid less safe? My kid’s daycare center has no outbreak so far. And, I wonder if they will get rid of masks wearing for kids at 2 years/above or raise the bar from 2 year old to 3 year old to wear mask in the coming months.

I think there’s a lot left to change and things are still uncertain. You should ask your daycare what they plan to do. I know when I asked ours they said no changes will come as of yet in terms of masking and class size but they might reevaluate for the fall. Anyway ask your daycare, not us.

Yeah just ask. Ours actually went out an email saying they anticipated a coming change and will likely increase enrollment. However, there are already two teachers per classroom so not sure they will need to increase staff in the short term until they go back to regular hours.
