"The Defense Department’s internal watchdog has concluded a long-delayed investigation into Michael Flynn, defense officials said Friday, sending its findings to the Army in a case that could bring tens of thousands of dollars in financial penalties for former president Donald Trump’s first national security adviser.

The investigation focuses on Flynn’s acceptance of money from Russian and Turkish interests before joining the Trump administration, a potential violation of the Constitution’s emoluments clause. Seems the investigation was suspended in 2017 by the Trump adminisrtation and restarted in January.

Just a reminder that he was on Turkey's payroll while serving as National Security Advisor and that he wasn't pardoned for that because it wasn't charged. That potential charge was informally dropped in exchange for the guilty plea on the FARA stuff.

How on earth are people getting away with this while on the government payroll? My friend sought authorization to teach a yoga class twice a week during non-work hours and had to fill out a gazillion forms and swear up and down that her yoga activities weren’t connected to her job (which was finance related.)

"Michael Flynn cited for unauthorized foreign payments"

Mike Flynn has to pay the military nearly $40k for his violation of emoluments rules by receiving payments from Russia. They have not even gotten into his work with Turkey yet. The payback will be in the form of withholding his retirement pay.
