When I'd read her 10 years ago, it seems like she always had technical difficult. I looked at today's chat and:
" 1. I was late starting because the finished answer I was about to put in my ready queue completely vanished; 2. my laptop shut down because I forgot to plug the power cord back in; 3. I forgot because I left the cord in the last place I was, which is a 6 minute drive from here, currently being driven by the person bringing me my cord." https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2021/03/12/live-chat-carolyn-hax/ She's been doing this for years now. I'd be fired if I was that unreliable for a 1-hour a week chat. |
| I agree. She starts late almost every week. |
| Yup. She gets paid to d*** around and talk out of her a**. |
I worked with her at a law firm way back in 1990-ish, when she was a recent Harvard grad considering law school. Good for her for choosing a more interesting path. |
What does that have to do with the OP’s gripe? |
|
I think you're being a little silly. I'm a long time Hax Chat reader, and this is not a common issue. I've been using a computer for work for years, and you know what? Today I forgot my charger and my laptop dies. It happens, no one is perfect.
Plus, her chat is supposed to be like 60 or 90 minutes and she's always on for at least two hours. Lighten up. |

I find her condescending and self righteous and have been reading her since she had her 20 something column. She recycles too many scenarios.
|
| I started reading her right when she started and was a devoted reader for many years. And then five or so years ago, I just got tired of her. She can be so abrasive, so judgmental, and ultimately she's incredibly privileged. It's all the same stuff, over and over. |
| She’s condescending and full of herself. I’m not a fan. |
Mercury was in retrograde. Blame it on the retrograde. Things have turned around now, and should be moving forward in the right direction again.
|
| I’ve submitted many questions to her over the years and have gotten 10 of them answered. I even have an illustration of the issue (involving my dog) drawn by her ex Nick Galafanakis. It’s a hilarious cartoon although I didn’t take her advice. |
| What does she do that's condescending? I think she's just teaching people about boundaries. I love her. |
Her tone can be unbelievably condescending. I think even she would agree with that. |
Some people don’t like hearing they need to respect boundaries. |
| I also hate the people who post things like “I had meatloaf for dinner last night. Divine!” Just text your peeps! No one else cares!!!! |
