It's beautiful out! Too early to mulch?

I would love to get ahead start on avoiding weeds. Is it too early to mulch? The beds have hydrangea bushes and the daffodils and tulips are just 2 or 3 inches out.

Can I lightly much over my spring bulbs?

Yes, they will be fine.

I don’t think mulch prevents weeds, but it does help keep moisture in during dry periods.

Wouldn’t that be more reason to mulch? To insulate the plants from the frost that is coming next week?
