I just had my NT scan - everything looks normal. I did the cell free dna last week but the results haven’t come out yet. Since my NT scan is normal what are the chances that the results will show a high probability of a fetal abnormality? Or can I more or less relax? I expected my cell free dna results to come before the ultrasound, otherwise I would have asked my OB. Thank you.

I wouldn’t make decisions to tell people news based on the appearance of the 12-week NT ultrasound. We made that mistake last time around. If the NT measurement looks normal, that’s a good sign for trisomy 21, but you have to wait for the blood test or CF-DNA results to find about trisomy 13/18.
Chances are everything is fine. This is just my jaded experience, which only affects around 1/5,000 pregnancies. |
Also jaded experience but opposite, NT scan was accurate, NIPT was not. Which obviously speaks well to your situation.
OP here. So sorry to hear what you went through PPs. It sounds really stressful. Thank you both for sharing your experiences. Your answers are really helpful.
First PP here. You should definitely relax a bit though- pregnancy is stressful and chances are everything is ok these things do happen though. Hopefully you’ll have results in another week

Thanks PP. I hope so!
NT scan abnormal for us but NIPT normal. Super stressful time.
Sorry PP hope everything ends up being okay.
