DC's problems with vaccination sign-ups and unemployment checks perhaps can be traced to the fact that her chief technology officer has no experience working in tech. She was Bowser's deputy chief of staff, however. So there's that.

Wow. I keep wanting to call them up and offer to do it since they are botching it so. |
| So it was a reward job, and in normal times she could hide behind the talented people in her office? Now, not so much? |
| She's been on the job for over a year; it's a little late to be raising objections |
Questions were raised last year when DC Govt could not pivot to more online resident services. Have you tried using any DC Govt portals or web pages. Just go to MPD's site. There is no modern or logical organization. All of the ANC's have their own websites because OCTO cannot generate a standard website that is robust enough for local neighborhood needs. OCTO email is awful as well. All of your email is machine read and then blocked if it has anything deemed offensive, even if you are forwarding a complaint which you find offensive to an agency which is supposed to handle said offense. |

This story so typifies DC govt cronyism that it could literally be excerpted from the Barry-era.
Nothing ever changes in this stupid city, except for Tony William’s terms. Then it was right back to corruption as usual. |
Recall Tony Williams! |
| This is eye popping terrible. She has no background in it at all. Poly Sci major to campaigning to chief of staff. Sigh. |

Probably why DC shifted to Microsoft to improve the process. $500K later, the system works. How pathetically awful.

+1000 Every time I see a story about the local DC gov's incompetence, I'm always surprised that people are surprised at how messed up it is. It's been a shitshow from day 1; that's the whole MO. |
This is why I oppose statehood. Really. I know if the * ever really hits the fan, the Feds will eventually step in. I'm waiting for them to ask DC why we are last in the land inoculating residents for example, and then just take over. Behind Texas even , according to the NY Times tracker today

Bowser is an epic fail.
Why this city continues to be shut down in its entirety is beyond anyone with an IQ (now Bowser clearly). One of her benchmarks is positivity rate - and if you look at the stats - DC has tested a significant number of NON- residents. Like the vaccine distribution - she is not putting DC first. And let’s not forget -In addition to her tech “expert” - there is Ferebee. Who is an idiot. |
It takes a big person to admit they gambled and failed with the non resident obsessed strategy. If she switched gears IMMEDIATELY she could probably recoup some ground with DC'ers. |
Could we? It really does feel like our city is sliding back into its Barry era. Really since Vince Gray but the process is accelerating now. A new Williams administration would be very welcome. |

Let's see: portal for unemployment doesn't function, vaccination portal doesn't function, affordable housing database decades overdue.
Notice a trend? |
