Either for current hybrid kids or everyone who wants it?
They were talking about it before but I haven't heard anything recently. What do others think? (Not asking if you agree, but if you think its possible or likely.) |
I know currently at the Secondary level it's being granted now on a case by case basis. If hybrid numbers stay low I can see it happening. |
What about elementary? |
If they make a shift it will be the whole county. All I can say is communicate with your principal if you want 4 days now. They have the leverage to accommodate kids if they have the space. Our school board might suck, but some of our principals are s amazingly dedicated to education. |
Thank you. Unfortunately we chose distance for ES (for the 4 days synchronous instead of just 2 days synchronous and 3 asynchronous) but if 4 days in person had been a choice I definitely would have chosen it. Our ES principle is not very receptive unfortunately. |
I guess that makes sense. Since my child is in secondary they are doing concurrent. Out principal is of the mindset that if there are available in person slots they will be filled as much as the rules allow. |
My admin has said they don’t see the support or resources / spacing for it. |
I wonder if they offer it school by school. Some clearly have the capacity to do it, especially at the secondary level. |
Notification just went out to staff today that the intent is to move kids to 4 days where they have capacity. I already know that this had been happening at the secondary level when requested. It's a tremendous windfall that so many secondary kids have dropped out of hybrid, as it had opened up slots dor kids who want to be their nearly full time.
No idea how this will work for primary. |
Must just be staff at your school because I didn’t get that email from my school or from LCPS. I wouldn’t mind it though. Even my kids today were like why can’t we just combine the classes |
What about the DL secondary kids that would have chosen 4 days? The only option offered to DL was 2 days. |
I think that you could always try to switch back to hybrid. The schools can only plan for what they have. With so many opting out is created much more flexibility. |
No she’s saying it’s not fair that people who picked 2 day hybrid could now get 4 days since she’d have picked it if she knew it would escalate to 4 days. Of course this is schroedingers selection because had all the parents picked hybrid then it wouldn’t be possible to do 4 days now. But we can’t move to the 4 days we can do with these numbers because then the people who didn’t select it want in the pool. So nobody will get 4 days. |
They are already sliding kids into 4 day who ask on the secondary level. My child is one of them. Furthermore I know for an absolute fact this is being discussed to expand hybrid for those who chose it. It was very clearly stated that you could choose hybrid and slide back to DL, but not the other way around, though I will say principals are being flexible when they can. You had to have known going into this that things are constantly changing? Just like I know having a kid who is now in the building 4 days days week, in 2 weeks time he could be back home. Only constant here is change. |
Several board members are on record saying they will not vote for 4 days in person without allowing ALL families to re-select. |
