I like this. Investing more money in our city and the quadrants that have been left behind - far NE, upper NW, and SE over the river is a great idea. But what the hell is a baby bond?

Good luck with eliminating the racial wealth gap

If you want to eliminate the racial wealth gap you have to do three things:

1. Graduate from at least high school.
2. Stay out of the criminal justice system.
3. Stop having children out of wedlock. 72% of of black children are born out of wedlock. That has also soared for white children comprising some 30% of births.

If DC becomes a state it will lead the nation in three statistics: Out of wedlock births, high school dropouts, and income gap.

There's a connection. Spend all the cash you want it won't do a thing until those three criteria are met.

That's true for whites and blacks. What about successful black families? What did they do? Did they just get lucky?

Say it again:

1. Education
2. No incarceration.
3. No gestation without a two parent family.
