7 weeks pregnant- ovary pain

Anonymous
I’ll be 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow and since 8am, I’ve been having on and off ovary “pain”. I’m not sure if I’d call it full on pain, more of a throbbing on and off that’s a bit uncomfortable. I had an ultrasound last week at my fertility clinic and sac was in uterus so I’m not worried about an ectopic. But at that appt, the dr said my corpus luthem cyst was on my right side so I’m not sure why I’d be having left ovary pain? I have another ultrasound tomorrow but I’m wondering if I should call my clinic and explain this “pain” or just wait until tomorrow?

I would call your doctor ASAP.

I had an ovarian cyst in my first tri - sometimes those are painful (especially if you feel it "pop", although recurring throbs don't sound like that). I would personally feel fine waiting until the ultrasound given you describe it as discomfort and not sharp pain, but maybe the previous posters have some reason for being particularly freaked by your description.

Op here- I definitely wouldn’t call it pain. It’s seriously a throbbing on and off. I’d say 2-3 on pain scale max. It just feels like a pulsating in my ovary area that comes and goes! I’d be nervous about an ectopic if we didn’t just see the sac in my uterus last week with a fetal pole!

I just called my clinic just to see what they say and a nurse is supposed to call me back at some point.

Update- my clinic pretty much didn’t think it’s an emergency since I’m not in super bad pain and we already had a viability scan so they told me to just keep my appt tomorrow.

This happened to me too when I was pregnant for the 2nd time. I'd have a miscarriage the first time, so I freaked out. I was 100% convinced it was an ectopic. The doctor told me to go get an ultrasound immediately to make sure the embryo implanted correctly. She was snuggled in there just fine.

But the pain lasted another day or so. They thought maybe it was just hormone related, but it did eventually go away.

I had cramping most of my first 10 weeks of pregnancy.
