When will carpooling be safe and common again?

Anonymous
I'm changing jobs to a position much further from public transit, which I've always taken. I'm teleworking full time right now, but i don't think that will last forever (anticipated office reopening in October), and can't face the thought of driving into DC in traffic multiple times a week. There obviously wouldn't be so much traffic if so many people weren't going the same way, so theoretically we should ride together! When do you think carpooling will be safe again? Do you think people will be too nervous to do it, even with vaccines?

I cannot imagine returning to any carpool until all the children in the carpool have been vaccinated. So not for a while. But I live in MD, not TX, FL, etc.
