| The handful of articles I’ve read by him are terrible. |
| I find is writing is very uneven. Some I find very thought provoking and others I want the last few minutes of my life back. I enjoy him on Newshour though. |
| His book Bobos in Paradise was great at the time. |
| Everything leading up to Bobos in Paradise was great and he lost his fastball when he got old. |
|
I also don't get it, but I did enjoy his "brooks & shields" segments, especially when they were wfh - the contrast between their backgrounds was fascinating.
And his house, I love. |
| CIA? He was one of William F. Buckley Jr.'s "proteges"... |
| Left his wife to marry his very young research assistant. I think he even pretended to flirt with Christianity to get in her pants. He's Jewish. The man is a neurotic creep. |
It’s been a while since I read it, but it describes the DCUM crowd quite well, no? |
| David Brooks from Cincinnati? |
|
I have not been a fan of most of David Brooks' recent columns, but I will say that he writes a beautiful tribute column.
Here is one on Gwen Ifill: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/15/opinion/the-life-and-example-of-gwen-ifill.html And one on Mark Shields when he retired: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/17/opinion/mark-shields-liberalism.html |
| He's not - I've never heard of him. |
| He's "famous for DC." |
|
I like some of his work. I think some people hate anything he does because they disapprove of his personal life.
|
Is he Republican? |
I think so, but I'm not entirely sure. He liked Obama, expressed anti-Trump views, but is probably a moderate conservative. |
