During an ivf cycle they will suppress your natural LH surge, usually using cetrotide or ganirelix (or lupron if you are on a lupron protocol). Maturity can be judged by follicle size and estrogen levels and that is how they will decide when to trigger. An IVF cycle is nothing like a natural cycle.
