Do mayors and city council members normally endorse school board candidates?

It seems like the politics of the town are infiltrating the school board. It hasn’t really happened before in my town. Is this normal?

It's the norm for Montgomery County. Which likely means people should not do it.

It’s the norm for Arlington County. In fact the last elected school board member has no kids, couldn’t make it as a teacher and is now an “educational consultant.” Her only qualification was her last name.

Same in Fairfax. Honestly, seeing who certain groups don't endorse is going to be pretty helpful in the next election

As you probably know Arlington does not have a mayoralty but is governed by an elected board. Yes, they endorsed her, even the one who got his seat with fewer than 300 Democrats party apartchiks participating in ranked choice voting.
