At their meeting on Tuesday 23rd, the Maryland State Board of Education will be discussing whether to go forward with student testing/assessments this spring during the few in-person days many students would have.
Thoughts or opinions on this? Also, any feedback you have can be directly emailed to stateboard.msde@maryland.gov tonight/Monday. |
| Hey hey hey, I happened to be part of a workshop on assessment and COVID-19 with top education researchers. It's a super complicated issue. So, you know, if you have particular thoughts, I can actually tell you what the experts think. I will try not to be an ass, as I usually am. |
| I hope we will test all my ESOL students on the ACcESS. My ESOL 4th and 5th graders kids kicked ass this year through distance learning and they are going to do well on it! |
| They're a waste of time in a normal year and even more so this year. |
+1 Let's bring kids back for in person and talk about how important socialization and peer interaction is and then sit them in front a computer to test in silence half the day. . . absolute nonsense. Not to mention a significant portion with still opt out of going back in person for these tests so what will the data actually show? |
| They will vote no because the results will be reflective of the non learning that took place this year. Just saying. |
Unfortunately they did not vote no. This sucks on so many levels. I hope that Biden fulfills his campaign promise to get rid of some of the federal testing requirements! |
It's all new tests this year, right? So you still can't use the data to show anything. |
I thought it was already announced last week? That The federal requirements for testing had to be met this year. |
It’s not complicated. They make it sound complicated because if it were not they would have no jobs. |
