What to do next? DC did well in his music audition.

DS applied for dual degrees in one of the top 15 colleges. He did really well during his audition and got strong feedback from the professor.
Should he do nothing but wait for the final announcement?
He is NMF in a large public HS.

Write a note thanking the professor for the opportunity for the audition. Maybe some others will chime in.

So DS is going to double major in music and an academic field? That is so cool!

Congratulation on a good audition. DC is a freshman and is considering going down this path. Kindly asking if you would share the final result when the time comes. Would love to hear your feedback of the process.

Fingers cross for your DC!

What does he want to do as a career? What instrument does he play? Good luck to him!!

Thanks for all the kind words.
DS plays an unpopular woodwind instrument and is the principle player in a youth orchestra. He made to all state band every year since 7th grade. We have tried to persuade him to apply for conservatory but he said he wants to double major in a large university with a good music school.
I wanted to get a counselor to guild his college application process but he refused it. As an immigrant and no musician we know very little about colleges and nothing about music school.
He really likes the professor so we would do something to enhance his application.

Congratulations, OP! It's probably too late for this since it sounds like your DC already applied, but the University of Rochester is a very good school with one of the top conservatories in the country (Eastman School of Music). There are a number of Eastman students who double major and end up with a degree from Eastman and one from Rochester.
On the off chance your plans don't work out this year, they do take transfers.

Or consider Eastman for graduate work.

+1. He’s too late to apply this year and not a large school, but Oberlin has a number of dual degree students and does great at having an integrated Con and A&S campus. For example, Con kids and A&S are often assigned to room together, many A&S kids attend to use the Con for music theory, music studies and instrument lessons. And they are focusing on bridging the Con/ A& S gap academically with business for music majors, music and cognition, music technology degrees.

I attended a HS with a strong music program so know several people who have done the dual degree with music. If this is Northwestern (since you said too 15), I know two individuals who did Northwestern with a music and STEM degree. One is now a music director at a public school and the other went with his chemistry degree instead.

In terms of what to do, a simple thank you. Congrats!

OP, any good news coming out of Northwestern's audition for your son?

Well, just a guess, because OP says "DS applied for dual degrees in one of the top 15 colleges".
