What school dropped off the list because of your visit?

I know this is different now with virtual visits but what school did your kid think they would love but then the visit turned them off?

A few years that flew to the top after our visit. The campus is adorable!

UPenn

Would love to take UMD-CP off, but probably will be stuck attending there anyway. Good rankings, great price in-state, decent location, ugly campus.

Sounds like a humble brag, not a drop based on a site visit.

That’s what I was thinking.

Nope. DC wanted an urban feel.

Juniata. Probably spelled it wrong. It wasn’t just me - dd did not like it either. She thought the classrooms were run down. She asked the tour guide questions about what people do for fun and he seemed to only talk about what he did. I’m sure there is a variety but dd doesn’t play quidditch and he made it seem like that’s the main activity. Tour guides didn’t say hi to each other when we ran into other groups. They could at least give the appearance of being friendly. We were with another family and they seemed pleased and said their dc was definitely applying so it could have been my dd. Also, dd wanted a small campus and didn’t mind remote but the area around it was so desolate that there was really nothing around.

For DS...

JMU, he didn't like the split campus, made it feel bigger than it is.

VCU, learned he really didn't like an urban campus where there is no separation between the city and the school.

Yale. The campus is fine but the surrounding area is not.
